Custom made curtains are a great way to add style and personality to your home. But before you can enjoy their beauty, there’s a lot of work that goes into making them.
There are a few things we need to take into consideration when measuring for custom made curtains. Firstly, we need to decide how high you want the curtains to hang. This will depend on the height of your window and whether you want the curtains to cover the entire window or just the lower half. Generally, Curtains should be hung 4-6 inches above the top of the window frame.
Once the desired height is decided, we will measure from the top of the chosen hanging point to the floor. This will give us the length that you need in order to help make your custom made curtains.
Next, we measure the width of your window. Custom made curtains are usually sold by the width of each panel, so we need to know the width of your window in order to order the correct number of panels required.
Finally, we take into account the fullness or gather of the curtains. This is the amount of fabric that is gathered together to create pleats or folds. Custom made curtains typically have a fuller gather than ready-made curtains, so you will need less fabric overall.
The next step is coming up with a design. This is where you’ll decide on the fabric, pattern, and other details. When you come into our showroom we can go through our fabric style books and choose your perfect pattern and fabric. Once you have a plan, it’s time to start measuring and cutting the fabric.
After the fabric is cut, it’s time to sew everything together. This is a crucial step, as it will determine how your curtains look and how well they hang.
Once the sewing is complete, it’s time to install your new curtains, this will involve the installation team coming to your property and fitting them for you.
And that’s it! You’ll have Custom made curtains that will add life and style to your home.
